Orgosolo Tasting Tour
All the flavors of our village
In Orgosolo, taste is a gateway to its culture. A food and wine tour isn’t just a delicious break, but a sensory journey through the history and identity of a territory deeply connected to its land.
The tour begins with cheeses, symbols of the town’s pastoral culture. The freshest ricottas are striking in their delicacy, while ricotta Mustia, lightly smoked, immediately evokes mountain sheepfolds. The Pecorino cheeses, from the youngest to Semicotto and Fiore Sardo, deliver, bite after bite, the essence of the local vegetation, with clear aromas of thyme and helichrysum.
Orgosolo’s two wineries operate at high altitudes, up to 700 meters, following practices that prioritize manual labor and environmental respect. The wines are the result of careful agriculture, with indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention. Beyond Cannonau, you can discover ancient and lesser-known varieties here, such as Grannatza and Sangue di Cristo.
Even the liqueurs are born from artisanal knowledge and wild plants gathered in a still-intact environment. Helichrysum, wild fennel, white and black myrtle, and even saffron: each essence tells a part of the landscape and the seasons.
Orgolese cuisine is rooted in the agro-pastoral tradition. Among the specialties, Purpuzza, sausage meat cooked without casing and deglazed with wine, is the star of flavorful first courses or enjoyed alone as street food. The Panedda, a unique large ravioli from Orgosolo, resembles a Seada in shape. The classic filling combines local prosciutto, casizolu cheese, and wild chard, but versions with mushrooms and cheese are also available. It’s also worth trying the pizza from Su Lizu, where the search for selected ingredients meets long-leavened doughs and quality flours.
