How to get here

Orgosolo isn’t a place you stumble upon by chance.

It’s a town you reach because you choose it – because you want to get off the beaten path, leave crowded centers behind, and encounter another side of Sardinia.

We’re in the heart of Barbagia, in a territory that has always lived a bit apart. We’re not far as the crow flies, but the journey requires time, attention, and a willingness to slow down. And perhaps that’s precisely what makes arriving here so memorable.

By Car

This is the most convenient way to reach us and to get around once you’ve arrived. Depending on your starting point, here are the main routes:

  • From Nuoro (approx. 18 km, 20-25 minutes): Follow the SS 129 towards Macomer until Locoe, then turn onto the SP 58 for Orgosolo.
  • From Cagliari (approx. 165 km, 2 hours 15 minutes): Take the SS 131 towards Sassari/Nuoro. At Abbasanta, take the SS 131 DCN towards Nuoro. Exit at Nuoro and continue following the SP 58 for Orgosolo.
  • From Olbia (approx. 115 km, 2 hours): Take the SS131DCN towards Nuoro. Pass the turn-off for Nuoro city and continue until the exit for Orgosolo, then follow the signs along the SP 58.

Once you arrive, park in the main streets. The town center has narrow, cobblestone, and sometimes uphill streets. It’s designed to be experienced on foot, at a leisurely pace.

By Public Transport

There’s an ARST bus line connecting Nuoro to Orgosolo. Connections aren’t very frequent, so it’s advisable to check timetables in advance and plan your trip with relaxed timings.

Airports and Ports

The nearest airport is Olbia – Costa Smeralda, about 115 km away. The most convenient port is also Olbia, with regular connections year-round to major cities in central and northern Italy. Alternatively, during the summer season, you can also arrive at the port of Arbatax, which is closer but has less frequent services.

To experience Orgosolo and its surroundings with more freedom, we recommend renting a car, especially if you’re traveling off-season or want to explore areas less served by public transport.
